Student/Parent/Guardian understands that:

  • All expenses for the course - tuition ($48.33) per credit hour), books, fees are the responsibility of the student/parent.  They will be billed by the university or tech institute directly to the student.

  • If a student drops a dual credit class they must notify the school counselor and then they will enroll in a high school class.

  • Student will be given a class period everyday to work on the course.

  • Student is expected to manage their own time coursework even when Menno High School is not in session.

  • It is the responsibility of the student to access help when needed whether with the on-line teacher or a Menno High School teacher.

  • Dual credit classes just like regular high school classes will be considered into the student's grade point average, class rank and eligibility for activities. Dual Credit classes do have a heavier weight on your GPA.

  • Students will be given 1.0 high school credit for successful completion.  On the college level, they will be given the credit hours the college awards.

  • The dual enrollment grades will be entered onto the student's high school transcript.

  • The credit will transfer from one SD public university to another SD Public University.  The credit from a Technical College may or may not transfer to a SD Public university, check with your School Counselor.  If a student is planning to go to an out of state or private college, he/she should check with that institution to see if they will accept the credit.  This should be done before the student registers for the class.

  • Universities may not accept classes taken at the technical institutes.  Again the student should check with the university before enrolling in the class from the tech school.

  • If the student has taken a dual credit class from a state university and then enrolls in a private college/university or a technical institute, they must contact the registrar at the state university to get a transcript to be sent to the post-secondary school in which they are enrolled.  There will be a fee charged for the transcript.

  • If they meet the requirements, MHS junior may take one dual credit class first semester and up to two dual credit classes second semester of their junior year.  A senior may take up to three dual credit classes per semester if their schedule allows it.  The first time a student takes Dual Credit classes, no matter if they are a Junior or Senior they will only be allowed to take one class.
